Bournemouth

Bournemouth has been attracting visitors for a long time, after all it is a classic example of a British seaside resort. There are seven wonderful miles of golden beaches to explore, edged by the sparkling waters of the sea. The town boasts a good variety of shops, bars and restaurants catering for everything you could possibly need during your time here. The nightlife is vibrant and there are plenty of beautiful gardens in which to relax. The beach is great for water sports too so there really is something for everyone here.

Things to See and Do

Bournemouth has everything you could want from a traditional seaside town. The wonderful Victorian architecture and the striking art deco buildings give you some idea of how popular this location has been with families across the generations. There are a number of events that take place here every year including car rallies, theatre festivals and carnivals. Of course the best and most famous attraction of the town is the beach, a golden crescent of sand ideal for sunbathing and building sandcastles with the kids. The water is popular with all kinds of water sports enthusiasts from sailors to kite surfers.

The art gallery and museum is well worth a visit, as are the impressive Victorian gardens. The kids will love going to the Oceanarium and the sharks are always a big hit with the younger members of the family. Being such a traditional seaside resort Bournemouth of course, has a pier which is just perfect for a gentle promenade. There are also a number of cruises that will take you along the beautiful Dorset coast. The main shopping area of the town is pedestrianised making it a pleasure to visit, here you will find a number of recognisable high street names alongside independent boutiques and lively bars.

This is a resort where there is always something going on. Spend your day at Alum Cine exploring the tropical gardens before relaxing with a cocktail as you watch the sun set out over the bay. Have a day at the beach and hire a traditional beach hut for a little extra comfort and privacy. Leave the land behind and enjoy a trip along the coast to Brownsea Island where you can spend time watching the deer and native red squirrels. During the summer there is a wealth of entertainment on offer including a family fiesta boasting circus acts. The event ends with an impressive firework display and disco for the kids.

Being a seaside location you just know that the local fish and chips are going to be good, there are also a number of excellent dining options available with restaurants serving the very best seafood. You could choose to dine out on the pier, along the seafront or choose a place in town, there are that many options. There are a number of cabaret clubs and entertainment venues that will suit a variety of tastes, so there is still plenty to do away from the beach once the sun has set.
