Halloween at London Zoo
Do something different this Halloween and take the kids to London Zoo for a visit with a spooky Halloween themed twist. Halloween is the time when the creatures of the night crawl forth from the shadows to be seen by all, and this is exactly what the experience at the zoo is all about. Between the 26th October and the 3rd November you will be able to meet the nocturnal animals that live in the zoo’s ‘Night Zone’. The event runs across the school half term holidays and is the perfect event to get your kids engaged in something other than trick or treating. The zoo is laying on a number of Halloween themed events across the week and wants visitors to embrace the darkness and the creatures that lurk within it at this weird and wonderful time of the year.
Spooky Themed Fun
Make some gruesome discoveries among the artefacts that can be found in Mr Darkmire’s creepy ‘Curiosity Shop of Horrors’. The attendant that works there will be able to tell you all about the different gruesome objects that you find, providing of course that you can drag your attention away from the owls that will be flying above your head. Head over to the Amphitheatre and you will encounter the ‘Animals in Action Team’ who will introduce you to some of the creepier night creatures that are generally hidden from view to the visitors that come to the zoo.
Scary stories are always good for a fright or three and you will not only be able to hear plenty of spooky Halloween takes you will also be able to have a go at creating your own nightmare related items. Get your hands dirty and craft something gruesome to take home, or decorate a spooky Halloween themed cupcake, or get you artistic skills flowing in the Big Hairy Bug Draw. All of the usual animal talks will be taking place as normal, along with the regular feeding of the animals and demonstrations of animal ability, but everything that goes on will be carrying on with the Halloween theme.
Events and Activities
There is more than just looking at the animals to do when you come to the zoo. And during the week of Halloween there is even more than usual going on. At the same time there is also the ‘Who’s Afraid of the Dark’ experience in the Night Zone.
