Hyde Park’s Winter Wonderland
Recapture some of the magic this winter with a visit to the Winter Wonderland at Hyde Park. Aside from entering into a magical world of sparkling snow and all forms of wintery delights, you will also be able to enjoy the largest ice rink in the UK, take a ride on a huge observation wheel, and partake in some delicious warming winter treats. The park will be transformed into a number of different realms such as the Magical Ice Kingdom, which will be filled with over 500 amazing ice sculptures. This event continues to one of the major winter attractions in the city and sees a large proportion of London’s famous Hyde Park transformed into a glistening winter wonderland.
Wonderland Attractions
Aside from the huge ice rink, visitors will also be able to enjoy a special Christmas market that is sure to be filled with lots of tempting treats. The observation wheel will offer spectacular views not only across the wonderland of the park, but also of the surrounding city. All of the family will be entertained by the antics of Zippo’s Circus and if you need to warm up as you wander the park the Bavarian Village will have what you need in the form of some sizzling sausage and a much needed cup of warming mulled wine.
2012 Sees the addition of the Magical Ice Kingdom, a feature of this year’s wonderland that has never been seen here before. Over five hundred ice sculptures which have taken four months to prepare and taken a staggering two hundred tons of ice to build will be on display for visitors to admire. There will be a number of different ice characters located around the kingdom as well as ice objects and animals. It won’t just be the children that will be eager to take a ride on the ice slide or have their picture taken seated inside the ice carriage that is pulled by ice unicorns. However, only the bravest of the brave may choose to enter the lair of the magical ice dragon.
Santa Land
It seems that the attraction of the Winter Wonderland was too much for Santa to resist, and he has relocated himself this festive season into the appropriately names Santa Land within the park. This part of the wonderland is filled with rides, attractions, places to eat and of course Santa himself. The children will also be able to see Santa’s elves hard at work in the toy workshop making all of the gifts needed to put a smile on the worlds face on Christmas morning. Of course the children will also have the opportunity to visit Santa in his grotto every day, and the children that have made it onto his ‘good list’ will receive a gift. Children and adults will love spending time in the Winter Wonderland this year as it brings to life all that is good about this time of the year and brings the magic of the festive season back to life.
